Civic Voter Registration and Election Drives

Description:

We must vote to exercise a privilege that many felt obligated to sacrifice so much for. We must vote to stifle the schemes of the 21st Century Jim Crow. Since the beginning of the Civil Rights movement, voter engagement efforts have played a vital role in our democratic process. While there are other ways to reach underrepresented New Yorkers, no substitute exists for the patriotic act of canvassing our neighborhoods to help community members register to vote. Each election cycle, the New York Urban League dedicates a portion of its practice to protecting this vital legacy of the Civil Rights movement, and ensuring that voter registration drives can continue to operate unimpeded by threat of persecution and unfair administrative restrictions.
